Abstract

The goal of this research is to obtain the gain of students conceptual understanding in applied cognitive conflict approach in heat and temperature. Method of the research is experiment that conducted at 10th grade in one of senior high school in Bandung. Cognitive conflict approach was used on experiment group while control group used conventional approach. Data were collected through pretest, posttest, questionaire, and observation sheet. Data was analized statistically by t-test. The result showed that normalized gain of conceptual understanding of experiment group and control group 0.57 , 0.35 respectively. It showed that average of normalized gain of experiment group is higher than that of control group significantly. The conclusion of the research was cognitive conflict approach increase students conceptual understanding. Besides that students and teachers responses gave positively.Key words: cognitive conflict, conceptual understanding

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the improvement of critical thinking ability of pre-service teacher students on Ecosystem and Biodiversity concepts after applying practicum based learning. The method of this research is quasi-experiment with the one group pretest-postest design. The sample were 2nd semester pre-service teacher students at biology education department that following the Environmental Science Course at FKIP Tanjungpura University, consist of 34 students. Data were collected through multiple choice test with reasoning and essay test, and were analyzed by using mean-difference test and normalized gain score. The result of gain score show that critical thinking ability were improve (0,39) through this learning model. Conclusion of this research, practicum based learning give positive influence to critical thinking ability of pre-service teacher students.Keywords : practicum based learning, critical thinking ability

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the effect of cooperative learning model, Teams Game Tournament (TGT) type, toward students achievement on hydrocarbon material, class X SMA Negeri 4 Singkawang. A quasi experimental method using pre-posttest control group design was implemented in this research. Data collecting tool used is essay test which has realibility of 0,59. Intact group random sampling technique was taken to get XA and XB classes as samples. Based on their daily chemistry examination, class XA was picked up as control class and XB was experiment class. U Mann Whitney test on students pretest showed no significantly difference between control and experiment class (Zhitung = -1,15, Ztabel = 1,96, ?=5%). Meanwhile, U Mann Whitney test on students posttest indicated significant difference between experiment and control class (Zhitung = -2,54, Ztabel = 1,96, ?=5%). The calculation of effect size resulted on posttest was 0,64 (23,89%). It showed that cooperative learning model TGT type gives intermediate level of effect size toward students achievement.Keywords: students achivements, cooperatif learning, Teams Game Tournament model, Hydrocarbons

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penerapan model pembelajaran berbasis masalah dalam pembiasan cahaya pada lensa terhadap hasil belajar siswa di kelas VIII SMP Negeri 5 Ketapang. Bentuk penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasy Experiment, dengan rancangan Pretest Posttest Control Group Design. Pengambilan sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan teknik Purposive Sampling. Sampel penelitian yaitu kelas VIII B sebagai kelas kontrol dan VIII A sebagai kelas eksperimen. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data diperoleh skor rata-rata hasil belajar siswa yang diajarkan dengan pembelajaran berbasis masalah sebesar 26,75 lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran konvensional yaitu 20,65. Dari uji U Mann Whitney diketahui Zhitung = -3,97 sedangkan Ztabel = -1,96, artinya terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara skor rata-rata hasil belajar siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol pada taraf 5%. Nilai Effect Size yaitu 1,40 atau tergolong tinggi dan jika dilihat dari standar kurva normal, maka pembelajaran berbasis masalah memberikan kontribusi sebesar 41,92% terhadap hasil belajar siswa.Kata kunci : model pembelajaran berbasis masalah, pembiasan cahaya pada lensa, hasil belajar.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to increase the concepts understanding and the student's competences to measure through the application of contextual teaching and learning models. The subject of this research was abut 40 the first level student's of SLTPN 1 Pontianak. The typed of this research was Classrom Action Research (CAR) by two cycles. The aim of the cycle was Contextual Teaching and Learning that focused about base units and derived' units. Through this research, it will found the information about comprehension profile and student's competences related to the measurement. The achievement of the claasroom action research's cycles was the mastery learning of 70% student that can be done the test minimal 65%. In collecting data the measurement test is done writtenly and performance test. The instruments that used in this research are the concepts understanding and performance test, observation guidance and also the field notes. From the research result, it shown that the qualities of students' concept understanding and competences about measurement are increases. The students' concepts understanding can increase from the average 49,25% to 78,75%, and the students' competence about measurement increase too from the average 42,19% to 77,81%. The result study that analyzed by Mc'Nemar test is showing the differences significantly between the result of pretest and posttest to conceptual understanding. Therefore, in general, the application of contextual teaching and learning multimodel can increase the the students' result study significantly.Key word : Multimodel Teaching, Competences, The Contextual Aproach.
